4/12 Aloha, Hawaii! - Part I

Maile and Beck both had Spring Break the same week, the week of 4/12. So we made plans to go to Oahu that week and stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. We asked Hansel's mom if she wanted to come. Even with a trip to Hong Kong earlier in the month, she decided to come.

The plan was she was going to fly into SF Sunday night and then we all would head to the airport Monday morning. She had a stop in Denver, where there was a delay and where they made my MIL check her tiny pullman. They said they were going to check it all the way through to Oahu, which she had a bad feeling about. With her delay she didn't get into SFO until 3am, where she spent the rest of the night/morning. So, we met up with her at the airport.

The flight was okay. Mathis slept less than an hour, and was really restless the last couple of hours. It was a hard flight for me. On the other hand, Maile and Beck did well. Thankfully, they are at a manageable age. Looking forward to when Mathis gets to that age, and I'll try to enjoy the ride getting there.

At baggage claim, we learned that my MIL's bag didn't make it to Oahu (my MIL was not surprised) and hadn't even been logged in the system. The airline took down her info and said they would try to track down her luggage and get it to her the next day. We were weary but hopeful. (My MIL actually did get her bag the next afternoon to our surprise.)

In our cab ride, the driver mentioned that that week was the start of the slow season since the majority of schools' spring breaks had already happened. We were glad to hear that.

We got to the Hilton Hawaiian village early enough to make it down to the beach. The kids chose the beach over the resort's pool with the water slides and the lagoon. We weren't sure how Mathis would react to the beach, but he loved it.
Yes, Mathis is in footie pajamas in Hawaii, playing with his welcome lei. He's wearing what he wore on the plane. Didn't change him til we got to our room

I was also in communication that day with Dave about Winnie being in the hospital to have their baby girl. Sabrina Allison was born on her due date and 1 year and 2 days after Dave and Winnie were married on Oahu (http://hanselandlisa.blogspot.com/2009/04/410-dave-and-winnies-wedding-day.html).
