12/28 Christmas in DC

On 12/28, we started the day with a family photo shoot. Hansel thought it would look cool if we sat one in front of the other and tilted our heads to the sides. He used the remote timer. Mathis was more interested in the camera than taking the photo.
I like the way Maile looks in the above photo. She actually looks a lot like how she looked when she was 3.

Later, we all went to the mall. Hansel, Haniel, and Carter went to see Avatar while Anita, (grand)MaMa, and I entertained the kiddies. They first rode the "train," which runs year round. Then, we ate at the food court. While there, I saw a couple who used to live in the Bay Area, Greg and Amy, and their son. We chatted briefly. Anita knows them to, but she was getting food with Hansel's mom. After lunch, the kids played in the crazy crowded kids play area. Then I went to get another haircut to get it closer to the 21st century. Anita and MaMa with the kids in tow got their eyebrows done, where thread is used.

That night Anita got us tickets to an ice sculpture exhibit. I was told we would get parkas to wear because it was really cold inside. So cold that people usually go through the whole exhibit in 1/2 hr. But I thought how cold could it really be. It was cold! My nose and hands and toes were freezing. Worth nearly getting frostbite though. I took most of the photos with our little Olympus while Hansel ran around with Maile and Beck.
Yes, it's a slide made of ice! This is Maile coming down. The next photo is Beck.
After, we went into the hotel hosting the exhibit. They had their own Christmas displays and decorations. They also had "snow."
Below are a couple of cool close ups Hansel took earlier in the day.
