Thanksgiving Week at Disney - Part I

Maile's school had the whole week of Thanksgiving off. I think they purposely schedule other events that week, so there's no school the entire week (Mon and Tues was for a Staff Retreat and Wed was a Board of Education Meeting). Since we planned to go to DC for Christmas, we decided not to fly anywhere for Thanksgiving. But we wanted to take advantage of Maile's time off, so we decided to go to Disney for the first half of the week. We figured it might not be too crazy busy since most schools only have Thursday and Friday off.

Below is a photo of Mathis exploring our hotel suite after we checked in.
We drove down Sunday and had bought a 3-day park hopper. We had thought about getting a 2-day pass and go to Knott's Berry Farm the 3rd day, but the 3-day pass was around the same price as doing the other idea and we figured the kids would enjoy the Disney parks more. Two days at Disney would have been plenty, but with the 3-day we took our time vs rushing around the park.

Normally, the park opens at 8a, but since we had 3-day park hopper passes, we could go into the park an hour earlier on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For Monday, the plan was to get there at 8:30. We decided to walk to Disney to save on parking and because the walk from a parking lot can be almost as long.

While Hansel, Maile and Beck rode the Peter Pan ride as the first ride of the day, I waited in line with Mathis at Pixie Hollow. After a 45-minute wait (less for Maile), she got to meet Rosetta, Terence, and Tinkerbell. Terence and Tinkerbell were super friendly and took time to talk to Maile.

The park was decorated for the winter holidays, and they had winter-themed parades and snow at night. We went back to the hotel for naps and then returned to the park for dinner, to watch the parade, and get in more rides.
